Maze Runner-Movie Review
By Julia Irie
November 3rd 2014
Wes Ball, the director of The Maze Runner, has directed an action packed movie. The star, Dylan O’Brien and
Kaya Scodelario, has brought the characters to life from a book. This film with the genres of adventure,
mystery, action and suspense has a total of $32.5 million debut. But were the tickets worth it?
Dylan O’Brien’s character, Thomas, a boy who was brought to a place called the Glade with no memories.
There, he meets various characters and has established a place in the maze as a runner. However, things
took a horrible turn as their lives were put to the test.
This film served greatly for entertainment with its realistic graphics of Wes Ball’s skills as a visual effects
artist and its many plot twists of the story is enough to keep the audience on the edge of their seats as
the casts brings the maze to life.
The results of the reviews were full of positive appraisal from the audience. “But beyond the visuals, what
makes “The Maze Runner” so compelling is its attention-grabbing storyline.” - Bill Zwecker.
Wes Ball’s first ever film is truly a masterpiece and worth a few hours of your time.
Elsewhere-Book Review By Gabrielle Zevin

Welcome to the Elsewhere- heaven, afterlife, limbo, hereafter, the great beyond, eternity, whatever you wish to call it.
15-year-old Liz is a victim of a hit-and-run accident, who wakes up on a ship S.S. Nile that takes everyone aboard to the land of Elsewhere.
Here’s the catch: In Elsewhere, where after being deceased, you are aged backwards until you become a
baby again and are sent back to Earth. Liz doesn’t want to become a child again. She was this close to
reach her 16th birthday when alive. She wanted to get a driver’s license, go to prom, graduate high school,
go to college, become an adult, and just grow & live. Now that she is in Elsewhere, she has to ‘live’ with
her now 30-year-old grandmother she never met, get an avocation (an unpaid job), Not just that, she even
gets in trouble with a guard, 17-year-old Owen Wells for illegally trespassing into her life back again. But
Liz is not liking it. How can she all of a sudden leave the life she had known all her life, and embrace the
new one? This humorous, quirky, and wise, written in such a way that will emotionally touch you, and get
you engrossed into this lovable world of Elsewhere. If you are not a fan of thick novels, this 53-page book
is the best fit. Elsewhere is truly a masterpiece by Gabrielle Zevin. This “young adult fantasy-realist” novel
will surely leave you craving for more.
My final rating verdict for this book: 4.7 stars. -3 because this book is just too short! It only left me just wanted more.
