The Might of The DSC Rugby Team

By James Kim

November 10, 2014

Hello ladies and gentlemen and thank you for reading my article, which today, will be based on the official DSC rugby team. I have seen their full strength and might, and I am highly encouraged that they can win any matches they meet.

This Wednesday, I have gone to the DSC rugby team’s practice. The rugby team have done their best, and have shown their full strength this practice on Wednesday. Their practice field located in Causeway bay, the field was more than suitable for rugby trainings and matches.

The rugby team was formed up with many students from different grades. The entire rugby team is formed up into class A and class B, both, which have different strength in weight or grades.  Under the coaching of manager of rugby team; Mr. Connors, they have practiced passes, tackles, running, and bumping into each other with all their might. The intelligence report from the manager himself, has spoken that matches will possibly be available, but still is looking for an opponent to play with.

I highly encourage fellow readers to try out for the rugby team next year, as rugby is an exclusive sport where you have your own coordination, teamwork, and honor as a DSC rugby team member. I have interviewed some people from the team, and therefore show the excitement inside rugby.

Interview 1 Student Jazz Waheed; Class 9-7

Me: Do you like rugby? Why do you like it?

Jazz: I like rugby because it is a fun sport to play.

Me: Are you confident that you can win?

Jazz: I am pretty confident that our team can win because we have the skills to win.

Me: When is your next match? Who are you playing against?

Jazz: I am not sure when, I hope soon.

Me: Don’t you get hurt when you play rugby?

Jazz: You can get hurt from rugby, but it’s a part of rugby.

Me: How good do you think you are at rugby?

Jazz: I am not very good, but I can take hits, and I am decent in my opinion.

Interview 2 Student: Malay Ranjensen, class:10-4

Me: Do you like rugby? Why do you like it?

Malay: Yes, I like rugby, because it brings out my aggression and it expresses who really I am.

Me: Are you confident that you can win?

Malay: Yes, I am very confident that I can win. Even though we have a young team, we are really committed to work well as a team.

Me: When is your next match? Who?

Malay: We don’t have the schedule yet, but we hope to have a schedule by the end of December.

Me: Don’t you get hurt when you play rugby?

Malay: Yes, we get hurt when we play rugby, but its part of the game, and we are learning to deal with it.

Me: How good do you think you are at rugby?

Malay: I don’t think I am the best, but I surely can play rugby.

That was the entire log I have written.

Tune for next time as I can have a chance to film some parts of the matches by the DSC rugby team.

Run of Honor

By Akshay Agarwal

November 10, 2014

It started with everyone being nervous, excited and hopeful said Mr.McGoey, coach

for the cross country team. They (cross country team) practiced hard for the event

held on 29/10/2014. Each one was expected to try hard, in other words to try going

beyond their personal best since everybody was up for the challenge. As if, they

were  to be aiming for 18th if they were at 20th last time.

So on the day of the event the runners were to run 5 km for boys and 4 km for the

girls. Furthermore, the result was as anticipated (Vilma Mort) 2nd runner up and

(Yu Takeshi) 1st runner up. The route they ran started from Aberdeen being the main

trail and up to the park then around over the damn, ending with a big loop to the

starting point.  The secret behind this was not only their hard work but also the

motivation they got from the elementary students; did very well in their track run.

In addition, the teachers were impressed by the focus and the determination runners

had for the run and they all started strong from the start.

At the very end, coaches were satisfied with the great start and a proud full ending.

Even better thing that happen was that there were no injuries, so everything went

smoothly and ended happily.

ISSFHK Final Swim Meet

By Shefaly Ray

November 10, 2014

On Tuesday, October 28th, the competitive senior swimmers from the Delia Swim Team participated in the ISSFHK swim meet that took place at Hong Kong International School. Delia co-hosted the swim meet so many of our teachers were able to attend the meet in order to help with timing and judging. Our swim team competed against Hong Kong International School, Chinese International School and German Swiss International School. Although some of our swimmers were tired after a long, hardworking day at school, it didn’t hinder them from giving their best in the water. The swimmers who attended the meets on October 9th and 28th will be attending the championships swim meet on November 6th. We wish our competitive senior swimmers all the best at their final meet on November 6th!
