Student Council Election Outcome
By Vivian Li
John Maxwell once said, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” A great leader can inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more. A great leader in school can lead all of you to make your high school life more fun and meaningful.
DSC student council executive election for 2015/2016 took place in May 22nd, and the candidate speeches took place in May 20th. This year, we have six candidates. one from grade 9, one from grade 10, and four from grade 11.
Muhammad Raziq Bin Mohairie, from grade 9, is determined to reach out to other fellow students and listen to their recommendations. He cares about the students’ opinions on school events and if he were to be elected, he would try to propose cleaner initiatives for toilets which would change our school environment and provide convenience for students and teachers.
Sourashis Bhowmik, a grade 10 student who participated in our school’s student council for the past two years, is willing to make this school a better place by creating more school events. He will try his best to build better co-ordination between administration and students.
Cheryl Chin, from grade 11, wants to promote school identity and increase students’ senses of belonging to the school. She will raise school spirit so that each one of Delia’s students is proud that they are a part of this community. Moreover, she is determined to make the best use of school resources and make school life more dynamic. She would promote school spirit through the use of YouTube and create a fun atmosphere.
Youngwoo Cho, a student from grade 11, promised that he will try to communicate with students to make events funnier so that more people can join the events with satisfaction.
Claire Kim, from grade 11 who is currently a responsible student council representative, is determined to make a larger scale of fun for the high school students. She has a creative idea of adding a fun corner for every dance and adding a theme for each dance.
Haru Hao, an enthusiastic student council member who is currently in grade 11, is willing to propose to the administration to organize more charitable events such as Christmas concert, and athletic competitions between teachers and students. He values all students’ opinions and will encourage students to participate in the school events.

Kathmandu Donations
By Muhammad Raziq
12 May 2015
On April 25th 2015, Kathmandu, Nepal was hit by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake that made massively destructive damages to cultural and heritage sites, and many families’ homes. It is estimated that about 8,000 people were killed and approximately 18,000 individuals are wounded by this earthquake. Cultural and heritage sites that once hold daily traditions and festivities of the Nepalese are now all destroyed. Moreover, houses, schools and, hospitals are also all destroyed by this destructions. When the global community-thanks to the media and the internet-heard of this catastrophe, they responded with a full and gigantic scales of donations, clothes, food and aid. Delia, with all our heart, donated a total of $39,280.70. We, the newspaper club, would like to say Thank You to all fellow students who donated to this cause; as all students from every homeroom have done their part as human beings by helping other humans during times of great need. We, the members of newspaper club, would like to tell the Nepalese people that our prayers and thoughts are with you. There is no winner in this homeroom competition, as all homerooms are winners in donating and helping other humans across the continent. This is Raziq, reporting for the Daily Dragon.
