Cinder - By Marissa Meyer
By Ananya Mohan
In a dystopian New Beijing, living the life of a cyborg is hard.
Was it ever easy, anyway?
The deadly plague ravaging the streets, the gap between androids and Humans, the constant risk of being under an attack by the lunar people from space, there is so much to blame for.
Cinder, the protagonist of the story, one of the most skilled mechanics of the area, happens to be a cyborg- she has a biomechatronic leg. Her life is a soap opera, really. After all, she is blamed for her ill sister, and is criticized by her grandmother 24/7. And if this was not enough, living the harsh life of an underprivileged second-class citizen in New Beijing was a big deal itself.
However, when Cinder finds herself in a forbidden attraction towards Prince Kai, she is caught between a whole new set of struggles- choosing between her own independence and her duty, and an intergalactic battle.
To free herself out from all these struggles, Cinder must go through her mysterious and peculiar past life. Not only that, but New Beijing’s future depends on Cinder.
Cinder may not seem like a futuristic twist to Cinderella’s tale at first glance, but it is one- a much greater twist. It is definitely a great read for people who are fans of futuristic dystopian young adult fictions such as the Hunger Games, Divergent, etc.
My verdict: 3.7 stars
My Sister’s Keeper
By Anjali Patel
My Sister's Keeper is a novel written by Jodi Picoult. It is a story about 13-year-old Anna, who sues her parents for medical emancipation when she is expected to donate a kidney to her sister Kate, who is dying from leukemia- a blood and bone marrow cancer. The story takes place in a fictional town Upper Darby, Rhode Island in 2004. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister. She is brought to the family for a purpose to save her sister’s life. Throughout the whole book, the author displays the differences between morals and ethics. Each individual in the novel is either a moral or an ethical person. For example, Anna is an ethical character as she does not want others to make decisions for her without taking her permission. Whereas, Anna’s mother, Sara is a moral individual since all her actions are based on her feelings and she just wants to save her daughter by using another daughter’s help. So Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable, a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for the sister she loves.

AVENGER’S AGE OF ULTRON
By Akhil Sindher
6 May 2015
AVENGER’S AGE OF ULTRON is the eleventh film in the Marvel cinematic universe and the second avengers film overall. At this point even thinking that a Marvel movie is going to be bad or a financial flop is impossible because this franchise is a juggernaut that will never stop but does it stop with this new film? No it doesn’t, Avengers Age of Ultron is a highly entertaining blockbuster which delivers for audiences on every level and you are always on the edge of your seat. The main thing that I took out of this movie is the cast and chemistry and the dialogue, with a cast that has some of the biggest ‘A’ list actors in the industry it is so entertaining to just watch their banter and quick quips and that is what Joss Weldon the director of the film does so well by showing the dynamic of the characters and how as a unit they work together so well and you believe that these group of people have been through a lot of things together and have experience. The plot of the new Avengers film takes place where now the Avengers have been on missions trying to find a weapon and Tony Stark is thinking of making an artificial intelligence that can help the world and Bruce Banner helps him do so but their creation is corrupt and called ultron and he thinks all humans need to die and there is the plot of the film. Ultron who is the main antagonist of the film is a different type of villain all together who is different than Loki in a lot of ways.Ultron has really dark humour and makes a lot of quips throughout the movie and mirrors his creator Tony Stark. James Spader’s voice is so magnetic it draws the viewers to him and gets you more interested into this character than you would otherwise. Does the addition of the new Avengers of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch and vision fit into this new film? Yes they do but they come with some criticism where Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are really neat characters which have cool enough powers of running and controlling things. The new addition that I got attached to immediately was vision the creation of Ultron and Tony together so kind of like their humanoid love child. The movie concentrates on previous avenger that most people overlooked which is Hawkeye who has a much bigger part and is way more enjoyable to watch and has some great one liner. Some of my problems with the film is the fact that it doesn’t put time in the development for Ultron so you can completely relate with him as the villain and what he stands for. The other problems was trying to hint future films that might take you out of the film, there is this one scene with Thor in particular that made me go “Whaaaaa? “. Avengers age of ultron is a great film which will definitely make you smile while walking out of the cinema and make you a have a ton of conversations with your friends about what happens. I would give Avenger’s Age of Ultron a 4.5/5. You will miss out if you don’t go watch this.
