Welcome Dance Round-Up

By Sourashis Bhowmik

November 3rd 2014

The Welcome Dance was, obviously, a great success. The dance was widely acclaimed by all those that were spoken to. Let’s start off by the preparations by the Student Council. Great work went into preparing the

auditorium into a dance room, it was filled with decorations. But, even

greater still, was the photo booth. This year’s photo booth featured a

great artwork by Haru Hao, consisting of the words ‘The Dance’ written

with more words.

Second of all was the music. Although there were some disagreements

and conflicting opinions on the choice of music, DJ Kenta kept rocking it

until the hours of the night. There were some requests about the school

bands playing, but sadly, that couldn’t be arranged. Everything went

smoothly, just ask the people we interviewed during the dance.

Everyone had fun, and that, obviously is more important than anything

else.

The games deserve an honorary mention in the article about this dance.

Starting from the traditional Limbo game that frequently fills our auditorium, the new Dance-Off was introduced. Everyone danced to their heart’s content, with two great dancers taking the prizes. This new idea from the Student Council also contributed greatly to the attendance of the auditorium. I asked twenty random people why they wanted to go to the dance (before the dance, of course) and twelve of them replied that they were going simply because of the Dance-Off. That is how popular the idea was.

Overall, this dance was probably the BEST dance up-to-date in the history of the school. The Dance rocked our school, and shall continue to do so, in the upcoming Halloween Dance.

Homeroom Board Competition Update

By Raziq Muhammed

November 3rd 2014

For Homeroom Report, Mr Aitkenhead’s homeroom won for the ‘Multicultural

Festival’ bulletin board decoration. Sadly, I didn’t have the opportunity to

interview Mr Aitkenhead but instead interviewed one of his students, Akil.

I asked Akil how he felt when his homeroom was announced the winner of

the Multicultural Festival bulletin board contest, he said, “I felt really good

and happy, all of us were really creative in the whole process and all of my

classmates had really good ideas.” Akil also said that he was confident

because his classmates showed enthusiasm for the project and not a single

student, was disappointed that they had to do this. He also said that most

students helped in order to win the competition. I asked Akil how Mr Aitkenhead reacted to the win and he

said that Mr. Aitkenhead was “overwhelmed” and happy because he was the one who “pumped” up the whole

class and “encouraged us to do the whole thing”. Akil also said that Mr Aitkenhead was the “happiest” among

them. In related news, Mr Riddick’s homeroom is tied for points with my homeroom, Ms de Castro’s, leading with 29 points total. Both homerooms are deadlocked in first place and tensions are arising between both of them. Time will tell until it is Halloween. This is Raziq reporting for The Daily Dragon.

Below are the current scores for the Homeroom Competition!

Fun Fair!

By Shefaly Ray

November 3rd 2014

The Fun Fair was a really successful event that took place on October

11th. The High School students set up 23 booths consisting of different

games and activities like balloon shaving, face painting, mini bowling,

mini golf and many more. Since it was the 50th Anniversary of the

Delia Group of Schools, everyone at the fair was provided with

Delia hats and keychains. Everyone had an amazing time, there were

many people who came to the Fun Fair and enjoyed the booths. All the

booths were full of children, eager to play the games repeatedly. In the

end, most of the kids won lots of prizes and it was evident that

everyone had a great time. Kids livened up the place with their

enthusiasm to play games and liven up the whole atmosphere of the

school. Overall, the Fun Fair was a great success with the help of our

studentsand the enthusiastic kids that brightened the place.
