Are you graduating? Have you bought your prom ticket? Are you planning how to dress up for prom? Here are some information you may wish to note.
Prom is a semi-formal gathering of high school students which normally happens in the end of their last year in high school. It is the way high school students celebrate their graduation. At prom, prom queen and prom king will be revealed. It is voted by all senior students who attend prom. Prom queen and king will be given crowns and it is the reason why people enthusiastically prepare for prom. Now, here are some tips that may help you.
-
Pay attention to student council announcements so that you know when to purchase your prom ticket.
-
Choose your outfit in advance.
-
For girls who decide to wear high heels, choose a pair of high heels that you are comfortable with walking around.
-
Make appointments with the hairdresser and makeup artist in advance. It is important that you start doing your hair and make up a few hours before prom starts so that you won’t be late for prom.
-
If you choose to get the makeup done all by yourself, it is wise to practice your makeup beforehand.
-
Bring a small clutch with you because you will have to bring you prom ticket, photo ID, money, lip balm and etc.
-
For guys, buy or rent your tuxedo in advance. Make sure that you as your prom date about the color of her outfit so that you can match.
See you at prom!
The Debate club
By James Kim

Is Debate important? The question goes through our brains. Do we debate with other people every day? I personally think debate is a very important aspect of our lives. In fact, the skill of communication is meant to improve debating skills.
The DSC Debate club is not an exception. They debate with their research and knowledge every day in order to improve their communicating, researching, and socializing skills. Last Friday, I went to one of the debate meeting. Indeed, the debate was fearsome as it was hard to tell which side would win.
“Can torture be justified as means to gain information from criminals?”
(Please think about this question for a moment)
Both sides have argued fearsomely against each other, one side stating it’s wrong to torture criminals to gain information, based on the true incident of US military torturing criminals and terrorists to gain information, however they were able to obtain accurate information. It is also a big lesson for humanism and social aspects of the country itself. The other side, which discussed that torture, can be justified due to the fact that terrorists can give vital information of where they will commit crime, etc. They also stated that there were no “human” terror gangs such as ISIS or Al Qaeda. In the end, the team which states that torture can be justified won. However, the debate was a hot subject.
Interview with Mr. Murray; Debate club
1. What kind of skills do you think debating will impact you on?
Critical thought skills, you are able to listen to other people's arguments; research arguments and find other ways to argue against them.
2. How will debate revolutionize(how debating have affected our lives)
We learn from discourse, so clashing ideas against each others develop each others ideas to a better one. Without discourse, our ideas will never grow. Without discourse, all the people will believe in one certain thing, and they will never change.
3. Do you find the debating last Friday satisfying? Pros and cons?
A great debate. The students did a great job, and exceeded our expectations. Few of those debaters were new, me and Mr. Connors are excited to see what the students of debate club will do in the near future.
The debate club is a very useful club you can join if you are to improve your English skills. Recommendations are high; who knows when you will use the special set of skills in future?
