Wrap Up of Swim Gala 2015

By Shefaly Ray

May 11, 2015

On May 8, 2015 the Delia Swim Team participated in the 39th Delia Group of Schools annual Swim Gala. They were accompanied to the Kwun Tong Swimming Pool with our Dance Team as well as some Grade 8 and Grade 9 PE classes for extra support and cheering. Overall, it was a very successful competition for both the swimmers and the dancers. It was wonderful to see all the swimmers swim their best in the water, and set personal best times, beat previous records and win medals. It was also great to see our Dance Team cheer for the swimmers and dance their routine that they have dedicatedly been practicing for.

According to the unofficial results of this year’s Swim Gala, our school has broken two Gala Records; set by Christina Ko for Senior Girl’s 50m Butterfly and the Junior Girls for the Junior Girls Freestyle Relay. Our school has also won a total of 29 medals from 32 events, 16 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze.

In conclusion, it was a fantastic swimming season for our Swim Team as they finished off their season with a great splash in the water, resulting in many medals and personal bests (not only at the Swim Gala but at other swim meets as well!). We are excited to see the Swim Team get back in the water in September for the start of a brand new swimming season.

***The Swim Team has not received the official results yet, they will receive it from May 25 -  29. The results discussed in the article above are the unofficial results and will be updated once the team receives the official results.***
